“Did No Warner Come to You?” Are You Listening? (Mulk 67:8)

“Did no warner come to you?” Read it slowly. Let it settle in your chest. This isn’t about people long gone. It’s about you. Me. Us. Every day, warnings are sent. Some loud, some quiet, some gentle, some painful. And yet, we ignore them.

Think about your daily life: You wake up, check your phone, and scroll through endless feeds. A notification flashes: a reminder, a verse, a quote, but you swipe past. Too busy. Tomorrow.

Someone reaches out for help, emotionally, financially, spiritually, and you look the other way. It’s not my problem. You know a relationship is strained, a hurt has been caused, a duty neglected, but you tell yourself, I’ll fix it later.

You feel your heart tighten at a wrong choice, a temptation, or a sin, but you silence it with excuses: It’s fine. Everyone does it. No one will notice. You chase comfort, entertainment, distraction, as if life is endless. Netflix, TikTok, social media, endless chatter, anything to avoid facing the quiet voice inside.

These are not small things. These are the warnings in real life, in every heartbeat and every moment. And most of us ignore them.

Allah’s question cuts straight through: Did no warner come to you?

It’s in the Qur’an you haven’t opened today.
It’s in the words of advice you dismissed.
It’s in the painful lessons you’ve endured but refused to reflect on.
It’s in the fleeting moments to make amends, to forgive, to change, to turn back before it’s too late.

We ignore these warnings constantly. We let the world, noise, comfort, distraction, blind us to what really matters. And while we scroll, binge, postpone, or justify, our hearts grow heavy, and time slips away.

Ask yourself honestly:

How many nudges from your heart have you ignored this week?

How many chances to do good, to reflect, to correct your path, have you postponed?

How many signs have passed by unnoticed because you were distracted, proud, or too comfortable?

This is not a gentle reminder. It’s a mirror. And if we don’t wake up now, regret will be the first thing we see when it’s too late.

The warner has come. The warning has come. Your conscience has spoken. Your heart has whispered. But will you listen?

Because one day, this question will not be rhetorical. One day, it will demand an answer. And then, there will be no excuse.
