Fethiye, Turkiye

As part of our summer holiday, we decided to add a break in Turkiye after our UK visit. This meant booking our flight with Turkish Airlines, which i do find to be a very decent airline. The seats are quite spacious, staff are professional and food is good.

After completing our UK leg of the trip, we flew to Istanbul. Istanbul has 2 airports, Istanbul and Sabiha Gokcen. We flew into Istanbul from London, but our flight to Dalaman was from Sabiha Gokcen airport the next morning. We had booked a driver to take us from Istanbul Airport to a hotel we had booked Sabiha Gokcen.

The hotel was a stone’s throw away from the airport so we were able to just walk into the airport the next morning with our luggage. The flight to Dalaman was a very short flight, which we’d booked with Pegasus airlines.

Once we arrived in Dalaman, its simply grab your luggage and leave as it’s a domestic flight. We had hired a 7 seater and were soon on our way. Driving in Dalaman was very easy, although some of the roads are more like country lanes. it was a very scenic ride to the villa we had rented for the week.

We had rented a 4 bedroom villa, which had an indoor and outdoor pool, hammam, sauna and jacuzzi. It was self catering, but we simply bought groceries for snacks and breakfasts from a local supermarket on the first day, and then ate out or brought food in for the lunches and dinners. (The food is so amazingly fresh and the eggs are just so lovely)

The villa was in a local area, which i found delightful. You could see chickens running around from neighbours’ villas, roosters crowing in the morning, the adhan out loud at salah times and small farms growing things nearby. The mountains in the background just topped it all off beautifully.

We didn’t venture out much. After a lovely but exhausting UK trip, we just wanted to rest and this place was perfect for that. There are waterfalls nearby, beaches and shopping, but we only visited the local market and a mall once. We prayed, lazed by the pool, ate, read and relaxed.

The perfect end to a great summer holiday. Enjoy the pics.

Alhamdulillah for all His blessings
