Owls

The man was extremely knowledgeable and taught us a lot about Owls. I thought all owls were nocturnal but apparently they’re not. I also didn’t know that they don’t have eyeballs. Even though they look like they do, it’s actually sclerotic rings!

As owls can’t roll their eyes around like we do, they have to move their entire head to get a good look around. They can also turn their necks about 270 degrees in either direction and 90 degrees up and down without moving their shoulders. Also, they are far sighted, so they can’t focus on objects that are too close. Instead, they have bristles around their beaks, to help them to detect objects at close range.

Fascinating, right? I’ve always loved learning new things and here, I definitely learnt more about Owls. It was also so lovely to hold the owl - they are so calm. The man gave us a glove to wear and told us to hold our hand in a certain position. It was lovely to be so close to an owl, a beautiful creation. Subhanallah! One of many with such intricacy.

We all really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it.
